Wexford Artists Community Theatre are dedicated to developing life skills in young people through affordable theatre experiences that educate, entertain and enrich the lives of the young people.
The Main Objectives of WACT are:
1 To provide professional relevant weekly workshops.
2 To increase members confidence and self expression
3 To run one innovative production per year.
4 To develop extensive knowledge of the Arts.
5 To encourage responsibility, decision making & planning by organising youth member driven fundraisers.
We aspire to having a youth theatre that is fresh, modern and relevant to the age of our members. We want to excite the interest of our local and national community in youth theatre and in WACT.
Artistically WACT put on productions and design workshops that incorporate many skills, acting, prop making, backdrop design, poi and circus skills, sound effect making, drumming and vocal techniques. WACT insure that all of our youth members experience and are proficient in all of these aspects of theatre. Laughter therapy and comedy has a major influence on our workshops and our ethos as WACT promote excellent mental and physical health among our members.
WACT believe in integrating our members into the art community where they live by devising performances that bring their craft out into the community and by inviting the community to the productions. WACT participate in the St. Patricks Day Parade. WACT perform on the street as part of Culture night in September.
Plans for social activities include a trip to a professional production prior to rehearsals of the annual show.
WACT drama Classes run every Tuesday at the Presentation Centre from 5pm
