Nicola Anthony
Nicola Anthony has worked internationally with NGOs, art institutions, and cultural foundations to create text sculptures and drawings which give glimpses into the effects of displacement and intergenerational trauma. Nicola’s work takes the form of multilayered text sculptures, text drawings and ink drawings. Nicola’s practice transforms literature, life stories and oral history into art. Since moving to Ireland in 2018 Nicola’s work has centred around Irish language, isolated communities, and the link between people, place, and migration. Nicola is an elected member of the Royal Society of Sculptors, she's been shortlisted for the Sovereign Art Prize, and has recently been featured in the New York Times, Interior Design Magazine and Architectural Record, and on RTE News for her award-nominated work about Direct Provision. In recent years Nicola has had solo exhibitions in Singapore, Myanmar and Ireland, and completed four artist residencies. 'Closing The Distance' is currently available for purchase.
