The Presentation Centre Presents
Extensile An Exhibition of Work by Anne Manning 18th August – 29th September 2017 In conjunction with the Wexford Arts Centre The Presentation Centre Enniscorthy is proud to host an exhibition of work by visual artist, Anne Manning. Extensile is an exhibition of work formed around ideas, observations and innovation, with emphasis on the collaboration and the creative process used by children and artist alike. For Anne, this exhibition is a collaboration of community, friends, family and the children from Carraig Briste and Killegney early years. Having worked with children throughout her career Anne’s work has been influenced by the organic exploration and methods used by children and the aesthetic outcome created by their methods of exploration and surreal creative process. “My work is an attempt to show surrealism within sculpture. Melting and exploring thoughts, collaboration together and presenting these thoughts in visual form.” While working as an artist in early year’s education at the above named Montessori preschools, artist & school were awarded an innovation award for art in the early years from Early Childhood Ireland in 2017. This innovation award acknowledged the visual arts as an innovative pedagogy in early years. Anne’s other collaborative exhibition, Side Tables, 2016 which was exhibited in the Presentation Centre has opened exciting doors for innovation in art education and helped to win this award. Anne Passion for Art in education can be seen throughout her current exhibition through influences in both Anne’s and the children’s work which are displayed alongside each other to emphasise this connection. “As part of my exhibition I would like to continue to show innovation within the visual arts and early years education. I have included a body of work from the young artists involved in the above exhibition. This work was a collaboration of both artist and child, completed in June 2017.” The Presentation Centre |
