Fake Utopia | Ciaran bowen
18th may - 29th June
The Presentation Arts Centre is proud to host the first solo exhibition of work by Wexford based visual artist Ciaran Bowen.
Bowen has been working from his studio at the creative hub on Main Street, Wexford town over the past year creating his vibrant silicone creations. This exhibition of work is a testament to his year in studio working with a variety of material and developing his concept with each passing month.
Bowen achieved his BA (Hons) in Fine Art from Wexford Campus, School of Art and Design, IT Carlow in 2015 and was awarded in the same year, the Carlow Institute of Technology Purchase Award, for his artwork created during his graduate year which now hangs in their permanent collection in Carlow IT (Wexford Campus).
Bowen was featured in the Irish Arts Review’s New Generation of Artists in 2018 and has exhibited his work nationally and internationally at La Amenaza Constant (2013), Visual, Centre for Contemporary Art (2015), WET 3rd Annual Exhibition, Hive Emerging est. 2008. Since graduating Bowen has exhibited at the Bones & Pearls Studio, London, Touch Me Baby (2018) which was Curated by Anna Choutova.
Fake Utopia is a calming distraction offering a sense of fantasy designed to engage the viewers mind. The textures alone are enough to draw inquisitiveness coupled with the colours and intense laborious, repetitive work that goes into each creation leaving the viewer in awe of the spectacle before them.
