School Tours At The Presentation Arts Centre Enniscorthy
Gallery talks and tours at The Presentation Arts Centre Enniscorthy provides valuable exhibition information to students of all ages regarding our current exhibitions and accompanying events, discussing all aspects of the exhibition such as the curatorial and technical aspects of installation, the concept and story behind the show, and information about the artist and their career.
Our gallery talks are designed to inform and encourage the students to question what they experience, and use critical thinking to develop an understanding of the exhibition and promote the use of critical thinking as a problem solving tool. Our exhibitions have been successfully used within Junior Cert and Leaving Cert programmes, alongside inclusion in third level and postgraduate theses. Students are encouraged to look at the exhibition at their own pace while they are given a questionnaire to consider. Younger students are encouraged to create artwork responding to their favorite piece in the show. However, we can easily adapt our approach to best suit the requirements of each teacher and course co-ordinator. Gallery talks are facilitated by The Presentation Arts Centre's visual arts manager and curator Lisa Byrne. Lisa has facilitated talks at the National Gallery of Ireland and Wexford Arts Centre as part of their education team, guided SETU with their recent visual arts degree shows, and has been project manager on the Enniscorthy Arts Trail, Enniscorthy Walls Project, and the Walls Of Wexford Project.
