The Presentation Centre is proud to host The Summer Portrait Exhibition in conjunction with the Wexford Arts Centre.
Face to face provides an exhibition of portraits the room they need to breathe. To create a portrait, is to portray an emotion, a moment, or a likeness to somebody, whether it is a fictional character, a friend or a wishful endeavour. The faces on show in this exhibition provide a medium for these criteria to be expressed. Faces are the first feature we associate with when communicating with people in person. We rely on these faces to tell us their story, the truth or fool us with whatever agenda they have. When we view these faces we are entering a moment, their moment are we have no choice but to accept the story being told to us face to face. It is only upon reflection as the faces hang eerily in the dark that we can ask the questions and query the story. The truth behind the face becomes apparent only through spending time with them, getting to know them. The exhibition will run for six weeks until the 12th August and also corresponds with the closing date of the Hennessey Portrait Prize submissions. For more information on this prestigious prize visit We would like to take this opportunity to extend our congratulations to all the artists involved and wish them all the best in their future endeavours. |
